Case Study

Foundational Design System for Internal Web & Mobile App

The client, a land acquisition and real estate services company, needed a comprehensive internal tool to support both their in-office and on-site teams. They were preparing to begin development on a custom internal web application and required early-stage designs to:

  • Establish a visual and UX direction

  • Align stakeholders and developers

  • Support multiple workflows and communication needs

The project demanded a flexible design approach—something more refined than basic wireframes, but not yet at the level of full high-fidelity mockups.

The Solution

Working through a digital consultancy, I delivered mid-fidelity designs for both a robust web application and its accompanying mobile app. The designs prioritized clarity, usability, and scalability, while maintaining room for iterative development.

Key Deliverables:

  • Component Library: Built a flexible set of reusable UI components to support design consistency and efficient developer handoff.

  • Color Palette: Crafted a practical and professional color palette appropriate for real estate and field operations.

  • Modular Web App Screens: Designed mid-fidelity layouts for each major area of the platform, including:

    • Internal database management

    • Team and client communication

    • Project tracking dashboard

    • Document export functionality

  • Mobile App Design: Extended the platform’s functionality to support field use, including:

    • Map-based navigation

    • Calling and texting capabilities

    • Location check-ins

    • Streamlined access to core database info

Each area of the platform was considered not just in layout, but in user experience design, including form flows, data interaction patterns, and communication logic.

Impact & Outcome

  • The client was highly satisfied with the quality and utility of the designs.

  • Designs were passed directly to the client’s development team to begin implementation.

  • The UI/UX structure laid a strong foundation for future iterations, even in my absence.

Unfortunately, due to the closure of the digital consultancy through which I was hired, I was not able to continue working with the client post-delivery. Despite this, the designs served as a critical first step for the team to begin building their platform with confidence.
